Hope anyone can help?
My Megane 03 reg hatchback 1.6 Dyn is cutting out when I slow down at junctions and at traffic lights. Also some times when trying to start the car
I've been searching on the web and found alot of people have said this could be caused by the TDC sensor, so I had a look around the engine and couldn't really find what or where the TDC was located. I asked my dad to help and he disconnected a wire/plug on the top left hand side of the engine near the oil cap (we think that it was connected to the variable valve timing solenoid), tried to start the engine and the engine stared it DIDNT cut out which is a good thing but now I need to know what I've disconnected. Is the TCD sensor the connection to the variable valve timing solenoid, will some one please explain!
Thanks
Megane 03 1.6v. Keeps cutting out!

You can bite your own nose its NOT the TDC you have found and disconnected. If so - the engine would be dead as a sweet-vinegar-marinated heering
But it could be the electric connection for the EGR solonoid valve you have disfunced, in which case the EGR valve never opens. This will dead sure make the engine run better instantly. And it certainlt wont hurt the engine. On the contrary the engine will de-coke slowly over the next few months. Probably it would even return better mileage.
Only the MOT emissions may suffer.
