Xantia headlamp improvements

Have just driven my MK2 Xantia in the dark since converting the headlamps to relay fed. Tests show that there is now 14.1V at the bulbs (relays fed via fuses direct from the alternator+ output) instead of 12.2V previously with the engine running.

The difference in night driving is little short of staggering - really worth the effort, and better value than tricky bulbs - also no real current passing through the dipswitch.

You need 2, and here's how to do it....

the difference in real watts consumed at the bulb is around 18%... taking thick wire direct earths from the lamps units back to chassis will give another 0.2 volts at the bulbs, but I haven't bothered as the sums don't seem worth the hassle.
