Xantia heater fan slider

Hi all,

The interior fan hasn’t known what speed it was doing of recently, changing speeds by itself, and now has gone to a low speed for good, even when turned off.
The air conditioning also still works on the fan’s ‘off’ position.
The wiper of the speed regulator has fallen out, and also a wave washer.
How does that stay in place ?

Looks like a retaining piece fell out, but it’s nowhere to be seen after taking the front tray out of the centre console.
Too much trouble taking the console out for that.
BoL only shows the regulator for the non-air-conditioned car, and PR-Net doesn’t show the underside, only the complete assembly as a single part.

Any ideas welcome … and thanks for your troubles.

I don't know what the postage would be but if you want a complete working heater control unit I can post one out to you if you wish. I'll dig one out of the shed and have a look to see what parts yours is missing.

It would be interesting to see what’s missing, because if anything fell out, it had to be bent, or broken.
I’m thinking of a retainer with claw to fit over the gear.
Unless it’s something that I can improvise, I’ll send ‘folding matter’ plus postage that looks like £11.

Its held in place by small tags at 7 and 1 o'clock as you look at the photo. From what I can make out on yours it looks as if the one at 1 o'clock has broken off

With the printed board out, the breaks are visible … both tags broken off.
No use going to search for them to glue back on, I will have to cobble something.
Perhaps 2 small self-tappers with flat heads; the inspiration will come over the next days, and I will post a picture of the bodgie.

I had put the question to 3 Citroën boards in France, and there hasn’t been even one useable answer.
We definitely have the best experts here.

Knowing what to look for now, I found one tag, and glued it back in.
It was in the centre console’s front tray, with the screws from the disassembly.
It must be the one that broke off recently, with no signs of the second one.

The cause of the breakage is the wave washer, which pushes too hard against the tags.
I’ve flattened the washer, so as to leave the smallest possible free play, with no force at all against the tag.
With the printed board and wiper back in, the light springiness of the contacts is the only force applied to the tag.

Plugging it back in tomorrow, and I’m very confident that it’s made it.
