Electric Window Problem on 04 Megane

Unread post by Rothy »

Hi all. I'm hoping someone can help me with this. Its my brother-in-laws 04 megane. His drivers side electric window doesn't work. I've checked it and there is power going to the motor and to the switch, although I had to clean up the terminals on the swithch, corroded quite badly so obviously have been getting wet.
The problem is that his window is down and we don't know how to get it up as a temporary fix. Can it be done manually? If so how? All help greatly appreciated

many thanks in advance.

Just bridge the switch connections. You will (must) have +12V and earth in to the switch - and the 2 motor terminals out from the switch.
The polarity to the motor terminals simply selects the window winding direction.
Dont panic on messing around with the wires, the circuit is protected by a fuse - howver be ready to locate and replace it with the correct rating.
Also the motor have a built in protective overload circuit breaker, should it jam with power applied. This works by the motor windings heat, so may take several minutes before it auto-reset itself.

Most likely the switch itself suffers from being wet. Try replace it or swap with other sides switch.
Another very common problem is broken wires in the bellow from door to pillar, as the wires are twisted slightly every time you operate the door.
