They're Torx bolts Pete, size T-55.

You need a good 'un as they'll be tight.

Also, clean out the "star" in the bolt head so that the bit goes in to the fuull depth. If it does not go full depth you risk wrecking it and then you have fun. Gently tap the Torx bit to positively determine it is fully home.

Star-shaped fittings are called Torx. Hex shaped are Allens. Don't know the size off-hand but it's probably worth buying a set rather than individuals.

I had to drill the smaller ones out on my Xantia.Just drillthe head off.Had to do the same on my b in laws Cupra R.But managed to undo the disc retaining screws on my 406.All they do is hold the disc in place. After a few miles with the new discs on i find the disc is tight on the hub then.

Hi Pete, I changed the discs on my 1994 Xantia last year and small torx was a T27 which I did not have in my set ( typical init! ) I was forced to buy a new set from screwfix. I just checked latest catalogue p82
you can get a set containing a T27 for £6.99

Hope this helps

Hi Pete, they come under the category of screwdriver sets.

Cheers, Chrisso.

you might one day need a T25 to get your steering wheel off to.
