Renult 19 oil question

Hi all. My friend has just picked up a clean 1992 1.9d renault 19.
Will it run ok on cooking oil? Is there any problem areas on these cars to keep an eye out for? It had a headgasket replacement about 2 1/2 years ago so that should be sweet. Any help much apreciated

The renault diesel engine is different from the PSA XU diesel engines.
But still - if it sports ye good ole Bosch diesel pump it will be happy on fish & chips or french fries
