Xsara Heater Smell

Unread post by DJC VTR »

Hey all

New to the forum so Hello first of all...

Have a 1999 Xsara VTR and sometimes the heater smells of engine/oil

Could the pollen filter need changing???

Ive only the car 3 weeks and the dealer told me the car had been sat for a couple of weeks, battery was dead as a doornail when i went to buy it but is all fine now. Smell is going slowly but still ligging!

Thanks

Dare I say heater matrix?
Either that or there is oil in the engine bay thats burning of into the ventilation ducts.

No, I agree, the heater matrix would give the good old "curry smell". This is oil fumes from an oil leak somewhere. Most likely one that drips onto the exhaust and burns off..

Thanks Guys for arguing amongst yourselfs but you hit the nose on the head! Or however that saying goes lol

Its definately not "Curry" smell, does sound more like the oil leak problem, ive got no major leaks (oil on the driveway or such) and it is going... so it may just have been spilt oil or the like!

Many thanks and I shall consult you guys on any further queries...
