HELP!!
Can anybody tell me how to locate the crankshaft for timing belt replacement ?
I was told there was a hole actually in the crankshaft to locate a peg but i'll be blowed if i can feel it. Does it just locate on the crank web or is there a hole?
Thanks

I am tempted to say that if yo have troubles already at this point, you should not go on with this job
The cambelt is not a part you replace, cross fingers, and then hope it works.
If you dont get it 100% right first time, the internals of your engine is turning into steel salad with mineral oil dressing. There is no "may be a risc" here, only a definitive failure. From the first time after the job you flick the key to crank the engine ...
And you certainly dont want to fork out the money for a major engine repair costs ...
First thing to do, before you ever remove any further bolts & covers : get a Haynes owners workshop manual for your specific Renault. Its only some £20 tops, and worth a million for the first timer. More than we can ever explain to you here.
Next thing to do : read that manual, then read it over once and again
Only then you are about ready for this job 8)

Totally agree with Anders.
Second thing I'd do if I were you, assuming you still want to do the job after reading the manual. Get a cam timing kit form Ebay or somewhere as they sell specific ones for different Renault models. This will have the locating pin and a cam set tool too that takes all the guess work out of it.
Oh, good luck
