406 radiator fans (edited to be more coherent)

Is there any way i can by pass the dash board on the radiator fans as they do not come on to cool the engine when it gets hot.

Last person to own it, called out a auto electrician who wired up a On / off switch inside the bonnet, this is very impractical when the engine starts to heat up when just idling.

Can you wire the auto on / off leads from the control unit on the fans to the thermostat on the engine?

Or am i in the wrong area completely?

Please help I'm a 406 newbie.
