Squeaky C5

Unread post by JT »

My C5 has started to make a squeaking or squawking noise when going over bumps.
It appears to be coming from the rear suspension. I don't think it is the ride height corrector as I have put plenty of grease on that.
Could it be a rear arm bearing?
If so, is it a big job?

Check the rear brake calipers. They corrode in their rear arm mountings, making them sit in an angle to the discs.
A rather easy DIY job to correct.

Yes, it looks like rear arm bearing.
Push the rear of the stationary car - it should be reproducible.

I take me about half a day to do each side. But read all the info about it on this site (search) - there are lots of pitfalls.

I have checked the calipers Anders and they seem fine.
When I push down on the back of the car I can hear the same noise.
So it looks like the rear arm bearing.
I am not sure which side it is as the noise just seems to be coming from the back of the car in general.
Is there any way of finding out which side kaput!!
Thanks.

Me thinks its rather early for any yearmodel C5 at present, to throw up a need for new rear arm bearings.
They dont wear by the common terms in mileage, but rather they are damaged by water ingress.
