It's just about upon us - a lot of modern cars now have the various main modules pre-programmed with the VIN and will not communicate with anything "alien". Currently its limited to the main modules (Instrument pack, Body computer, Engine ECU, ICE), but soon (within a year or two)will be on Door Control modules, light modules, the lot...

Well, I just discovered the lack of citroen-pr tonight, well annoyed. Paid access for technical info, fair enough, having to pay in order to save agonising phone calls to citroen parts desk, which saves them precious time too makes no sense.

However I have a plan....

I've seen that Laser parts info system, looks good, and intend to get myself a copy.

Anyone who wants to chip in and share the cost to get a copy send me a PM.

US$75 is not bad for the complete Citroen PR-net info upto & including 2005. You have a choise of english or french language at installation time of the Laser program.

Also the seller claims that you get server access to citroen. But thats not clear in the description.

I know that a few of you guys out there uses the laser system. Does this system access the Citroen info server for latest info update ?

BTW : anyone any idea of a genuine registered laser system cost ?

I've just been on http://service.citroen.com/ and it seems the part number search & diagrams are free to access once again

Anyone else want to try it to check its not just me ?!

Yes, I've just registered and it works for me!!!!!!!

The only problem was, the e-mail containing my user code was interpreted as spam and rejected. I've had to dig deep in the spam archive I have set up to find it...

What is a relief! pr.net is dead, long live Citroen Service.

It may be me but the pictures look better... (or maybe becaue I'm using SWMBO's PC tonight and she has a better monitor than me

I think the diagrams are a bit clearer than they were on pr.net
I don't know when they started allowing free access to parts, must be fairly recently. I almost paid for 1 hours use too without noticing, lucky I just tried to get in without paying & it worked !

I went on there to check the cost of a replacement "control unit" (the unit behind the wheel with the airbag connector, stalk controls for the lights, wipers & trip computer). £164.62 !!

Trouble is its such a relatively specialised part and no one other than dealers stock them, unless anyone here knows different?

It's been bloody awful to get anything working - frozen links and
frustratingly naff happening. Registering and getting into the first
screen was the easy bit - I 'even' registered as a private customer.

3 web broswers later (IE and Firefox) it finally works in Safari
- yes OK I'm a Mac addict, but it always worked in IE and not the others!!

Heyho, at least I may again increase my understanding of the intricate
workings of my collection of Citroens - let's hope it doesn't get the plug
pulled on it again - don't want it being too useful or popular now do we,
saving hours of Dealership parts counter mouse work...

No exploded illustrations though - apparently I need ISOVIEW
- let me guess... PC only by any chance!?

Why is it I'm not surprised. Hell will have to freeze over before I EVER
use a PC!

Now that to me seems a terrible thing to do. Why did they not use Adobe Acrobat? After all, ISOVIEW does much the same sort of thing as far as I can see. I guess that is the French for you.

There is an advantage to it though, you can save the diagram by right-clicking on it and it saves as a TIFF.

You can always PM one of us your needs and we could send you the TIFFs Andrew! Macs can read those can't they?

PR net is back - and in much better shape 8)
Dont worry about the Isoview plug-in. if you dont have it installed, the drawings page will display an information line telling you how to download and install it.
One click (and a Windows restart) later - you are on the drawings show.

However - am I right that electric schematics (diagrams) are still on the pay-pr-view services ?

I cant seem to get up any schematics, except for harness drawings.

(I'm a PC user with XP2 and IE6 - fully updated from Windows update downloads)

Yes, I believe so Anders. At least now it is quite reasonable to sport out 3 euros to get this information as you won't be wasting precious time getting to the right place and finding your way around.

It has already been very useful. One of SWMBO's driving school pupils really badly kerbed her C3 and damaged the wheel. I was able to very quickly look up the part no. and the price of a new wheel for her. Only £28
