ZX gearbox mount

Can anyone confirm whether my gearbox engine mount is on my ZX TD estate is duff or not. on removal I was surprised to find that the steel tube in the centre of the mount wasnt bonded to the rubber and that the center of the mount that the steel tube fits in was very slack and tapered from top to bottom. I would normally have concluded it was duff, but it all looks like it was made that way. The tube doesnt appear to have any rubber residue and doesnt look like it was ever bonded to the rubber, and the rubber is very symetrical in shape. Can anyone confirm whether the steel centre tube is supposed to be loose or not.

Tube was loose on both the 306 HDi and our ZX TD I changed clutches on last year. All goes a bit haywire if you bolt it up without the steel tube in

yep that about right,or as an old polish tank mechanic who use to work at a citroen garage were i also worked,used to say when ever he presented one of ower customers cars at the MOT station(they are all like that)

The one I just replaced did have traces of the rubber on the outer shell and the new one was bonded!
