HP pump

Unread post by nurkov »

What's a difference with those suspension pumps?
If we look only on 6+2 type pump almost every engine has got different one according to citroen's purt numbers plus there is aircon or not version. I've bought one on ebay, very cheap, and it looks the same like mine. Pulley is the same with the same number. On mine there is number 03C8B on other one 12F7B plus there is number on the side 119650 on both of them.
So question is will it work or not?
Mine xantia is quite rare as it is estate, exclusive with leather interior and 2.0L petrol turbo engine (RGX).

If the mountings and pipes fit, I don't see why not. Most of the difference is in the pully diameter and type, depending largely on whether they are petrol or diesel.

As Peter N. is trying to tell you : no matter what engine & yearmodel it originates from, it will do perfect in your Xantia if it fits on mountings & pipes.

All of the 6 + 2 pumps are the same unit, pressure for the main hydraulic system (2 x piston part) is controlled by the regulator and the pressure for the power steering (6 x piston part) is controlled internally, in the back of the pump.

There are a few difference's, the pulley size and there are quite a few! and the distance from the pump body to the pulley center line the other difference being that some pumps have the pipes out of line.

It goes without saying that if you can fit it and the belt runs true, then it will work.

With on BIG difference not to get caught out on.......

The Xantia V6. This car uses a totally different pump, the power steering on this pump is not controlled from inside the pump, there is a seperate in line regulator that is located on the front left hand inner wing to do this job, if you were to use this pump on any other car then it would develop enough pressure to blow the ram apart.

The V6 pump can be identified by the bolt on pulley, all others are pressed on.

Regards
Slim.
