Xantia TD rev counter

Further to my blower motor woes, I have rev counter woes.

It works for the first 20mins of a journey, then goes haywire and dies. I hate things that don't work properly right under my nose, and want it fixed!

Any ideas what to look for? Sounds like a connection to me, but where?

you could try the conection at the plug block,if you find the sensor on the top edge of the clutch housing alongside the engine,then trace the wire back to the plug conector,could be the sensor itself

I found the connector plug, took it apart and cleaned it up, but no joy.

I've noticed that as its begining to falter and die, it does spring back to life as you rev the engine.
Sensors easy to come by?

They are, but quite expensive from Citroen about £60-70 last time I enquired. Cheapest way is one from a scrap engine. Its the TDC sensor.

Hi.

I'd say the sensor in general, its breaking up under the heat.

Is the car a 1.9 Td car?? IF SO I have a few of these sensors about...

Could sort you one for cost of postage etc...

IF its a petrol car then, sorry I dont.. obviously

deffo sounds like the sensor i've had 2 of these go on different cars and they both went the same way, from cold work ok but as soon as they get warm they go erratic and then the needle just drops, scrappy is the best bet.

Could be the same as 405's etc then I guess?

I would check the new price first. I changed the TDC sensor on my 2.1 and I don't remember it being that expensive from Citroen.
