The other thing to consider is that the less MPG a (petrol) car returns, the quicker the "payback" of the conversion, especially if you are doing higher mileage.

For me, I chose to get an LPG converted car because I'd had an XM 2.5TD with all the toys and I wanted something that was slightly more reliable than a Citroen - Hence the Lexus. The fact that Lexus (posh Toyota!) don't make a diesel was also a factor. My running costs now are slightly higher than when I had the XM, but the satisfaction I get from driving it makes it worth it.

Unfortunatly no one makes really a big estate car now, so I am stuck with a diesel XM which apart from the matchless ride has actually been fairly reliable, perhaps not to Japanese standards, but acceptable. Mine does use the 2.1 engine which almost bombproof, and a manual gearbox!

Failing that there's a plethora of large 7 seat MPVs.

True, but its about 2 feet shorter than the XM, I could get three 28" TVs in the back with the seats up! It has those 'springy things' at the corners and an engine that is considerably less reliable than the 2.1 td. Not the sort of car I am looking for, but thanks anyway. None of the MPVs have a ride like the XM. Yes, I'm fussy!

I also have one of these 24v BEASTS and it is already on GAS

20 mpg is more like it around here in N WALES, nice empty roads no stop starting!!!

It doubled up to 40mpg ROUGHLY (after the Maths), which made it just (for me at least) affordable to run every day.

I did however got to Glasgow on 40 quid of LPG from N Wales, at about a 70 - 80 mph cruise! I can get the MPG down to 7 mpg with a good boot on my right leg!

The 12v V6 is quite a bit better on fuel, mine gave me about 25- 30 mpg, and that on gas too, was giving about 45mpg EQUIVALENT (After the maths! That is) God I miss it, need to get that auto box swapped!!
