Battery?

Unread post by caveman_si »

Trying to get a battery for a renault scenic s reg 1.6 petrol.

Its the sealed type that going uder the drivers seat. Have tried all the parts/battery places I could get to this morning and no one has it. I even tried halfords and they dont even stock them. So does anyone know where I can get one or is it a case of getting a bank loan and going to the main stealers?? Who were shut this morning 11am on a saturday!!! also anyone know a rough price?

cheers si

I would never, never, never, never, never, never, ever try to get a battery for a "renault scenic s reg 1.6 petrol" or my "1990 Citroen model BX19 Estate with monopoint petrol engine".
Instead I'd look closer at the battery, using a scale writing down the outer dimensions, and make a simple scetch clarifying where the plus & minus poles are located relative to the battery corners, also noting any edges for clamping down the battery etc. etc.

Then I'd go looking for a similar battery where you can get batteries.

I'll bet a pint you find at least a couple of candidates first try

Because car batteries are like filament bulbs : they are standard goods delivered from many, many, many different manufacturers & suppliers & shops.

Anders normally i would just go out and buy another one of the same or slightly better spec as you sugguested. But this is a sealed battery and sits inside the vehicle under the drivers seat. So i have to get a sealed battery to replace it. Which is easier said then done. I spent 3 hrs yesterday call up and visiting over a dozen car parts and battery places to find one and no one stocked them or could order one. I even went to the place of last resort (halfords) and they dont do them either. Hence i was asking if any one knew of places where i could get one or if it was a main dealer part only! Its not for my car its for the parents and since im here for a few days i thought i would see if i could save them a few quid by avoiding the main dealers.

Just to follow up £93 from the main dealers for a fully sealed battery.
After speaking to a few other places no one else could or would get one in. So off to the main stealers it was. Needless to say my dad nearly had a heart attack his last battery cost £25 for a fiesta.

Had i had time over the christmas period to go hunting round scrappies then i would have done. If any had been that is. But why pay for a battery that could be a pile of pants ? when you can buy one with a nice 3/5 year gaurenttee that you know wont give the folks any grief and hence not you? Just anoyed that there was only place in Norwich over xmas that would sell one.

i'll second that renault main dealer in norwich , they are complete beep beep beeps!! 3 goes to fit a laguna clutch cable and they left bits loose hence the 3 goes. done FOC though

then again seat main dealers norwich ain't much better either they fitted a ecu to sisters mpv, it got 2 miles out the workshop and failed again, because of the wet underlay/carpet they replaced over it! they then had cheek to tell my sister she had to pay again (£458 quid) to have fixed. So I informed sevice manager to leave car as is, lock it and put keys in his desk as i would be down to collect it in 45 mins.
By the time i got there they had a loan Mpv , promised to replace winscreen or reseal, and replace ecu + remove all carpets valet and dry them. took them 10 days but hey FOC again.

if you don't get what you expect COMPLAIN , but do nicely IT DOES get results
