205 sunroof grief - please help

Post by albs »

I wonder if someone can help please:
I own a 205 stdt L reg.
It has a slide sunroof that is operated by pulling down a lever which then seems to release some type of pressure lock so that the sunroof can be pulled back by hand.
My problem is that the pressure lock has completely locked the sunroof at 6 inches open and releasing the leaver no longer releases the sunroof. (Currently black bin liner keeps out rain etc)
I have had the lever assembly apart and on inspection can only see what appears to be a red and black pipe with approx 3 mm inner diametres. Also there is a wire without an end connector that looks like it should connect to the lever. But I see no method of it attaching to the lever.
Does anyone know anything about this setup? Do I need to go to a specialist to get it fixed? Has anyone fixed one at all?
Your thoughts on the matter would be much appreciated.
Thanks

The 205 sunroof has got a pressure tank fitted down on the inside footwell on the passenger side. remove the inner panel and you should see a plastic tank looking thing. release the hose, this will deflate the seal so you can at least shut the roof. As for why the lever is not releasing the valve, check to see if any plastic has broken from the handle that operates the lever.
Good luck

Cheers for that AndyGimpy,
I have found that the vacuum seal was deflating but I still couldn't move the roof. On closer inspection of the wire and the lever innards it looks like the lever accepts a 'bicycle type brake wire' with some type of round metal gromet!? at the end. This wire is heavily spring loadeded and after a lot of pulling on it I managed to move the sunroof back into its closed position.
So looks like I need to take the sunroof completely off at some point and replace this "bicycle brake wire" to get it working properly again.
Thanks again for your help
