C5 1.8 Engine idle problem

Hi
Anybody knows why when I come to a stop the engine idle sometimes sits at 1500rpm. I have to quickly jolt the accelerator pedal quickly to get it to idle normally
Sometimes for a split second when changing gears it sits up at 2500rpm and on deceleration it gives a nasty jolt

If you have the cable throttle version its likely to be a binding cable.
If you have the electric pedal - it seems the pedal potientiometer is at fault.

It's cable and it seems routed without kinks and feels smooth in operation
