Accumulator Sphere change on a V6 Xantia.

Unread post by Quackers »

After my last failed attempt to get to the presure release screw (the V6 is akward to work on!) i now have a modified spanner to try and reach it tonight. Next thing is i was told to put the O rubber ring in first then screw the sphere in, which is fine on a normal Xantia, but on the V6 it drops down like a lightbulb in a sealing light would. So if i put the O ring in first it will fall out, so am i just going to have to hope it does not knacker the O ring putting it on the sphere then screwing it in?

You will knacker the seal if you put it on the sphere. A thin smear of grease on the seal will hold it in place just nicely though 8)

Agree with Richard, if you put the ring on the sphere it will not be held in the right position, when you screw the sphere in it will probably chew the ring up. Wipe the fluid off and then grease it.

When I did mine I just put the new seal on the block and it stayed there fine, no need for any grease or such like.
It infuriates me to be wrong when I know I'm right

It will if you can get it dry enough.
