(YET) another mirror question

Unread post by _kid_ »

Can anyone tell me if the external door mirrors fold all the way back?

I fitted a good condition second hand one on (thanks to a faceless coward who snapped it off :( ) but the mirror only folds back around 75%, i.e. it is not parallel to the door?

It’s a manual one, with the remote joystick if that helps.

unfortunately I can’t compare to the nearside, as someone (another faceless coward  ) snapped that off, and I have stuck this with some tape, so the mirror is always open
currently no citroens :-(

Yes, it does fold back all the way.
Yours must be binding somewhere.
Maybe squirting will cure it.

What sort of neighbourhood is that for it to happen twice ? :x
Did it happen both times when the car was parked in the same place ?

Oops, mistake !
Just went checking on the mirror movements.
The nearside folds down to the point where the back of it is level with the outermost edge of the door below.
The mirror is then not parallel with the window.
The driver’s side mirror doesn’t even fold back that far.
When fully folded, the back of it still sticks out about 2 inches from the outermost part of the door.
Sorry for the mistake, and hope that it’s of no consequence.
And my commiserations for the pisspots on the street. :x

My finding is for my own 1995 Mk I with mirrors operated manually by ‘joystick’ button.
The mirrors aren’t heated either, the car is an SX with ‘poverty pack’.
I now wonder how many variants there are, :? and if the motorised mirrors can be folded back fully by electric motors controlled from the inside.
