air in xantia brake lines and height

Unread post by erez »

hi!

is there any connection between air in brake lines and the fact the rear of my car is going all the way up in cold starts?

when i cold start the car, the rear end tends to go all the way up, i did citaerobics, but did not help, could it be air in the rear brakes?

thanx!
Erez.

No, it's more likely the rear height corrector linkages are seized.

yes, but!
after about 3 minutes, he goes back to normal height, and works fine.

Honestly - it is a coincidence !
But my humble oipinion on this matter is quite opposite to Simon

I do In fact believe that there is a connection between air in the rear brakes - and the rear shooting up.

This is because the rear brakes are fed - from the rear suspension :!:

First thing you should do is the Citaerobics. Then you bleed the rear brakes thoroughly - using a long pvc hose reaching back to the reservoir.
Owners have reported that even after bleeding for long time there may suddenly come out more bubbles while you bleed.

If you can explain the mechanism by which it could happen Anders, I'm all ears :)

But while I'm sure air in the rear brake lines will cause the back to rise during braking, I can't see any way it could cause the car to keep rising to the top during the initial lifting in the morning, when the car is stationary.

Surely this is the height corrector not closing when ride height is reached. (Due to some stiffness in the linkage or height corrector movement)

Also remember air in the brake lines between the doseur valve and the brakes is isolated from the suspension when the brake pedal is not pressed.

I would give the linkages around the rear height corrector a good spray of a penetrating lubricant, and then work the manual height lever between its extreme settings a few times...

Just a thought,
Maybe your height corrector has siezed in the high position? Power wash under neath the car, let it dry, then coat the height corrector with WD40 to loosen up the linkage, wipe everthing down then coat the linkages with grease or waxoyl.

Worked ok on my car
