NEW PURCHASE - C5 HDI

Unread post by KevMayer »

I've just committed myself to buying an 02 plate Citroen C5 2.2 Hdi Exclusive SE 5 speed manual with all the whistles and bells.

It's in Metallic Green.

It's done just over 61K miles.

I have searched through the forum and don't see a great deal of C5 type threads. But, I get the impression that lots of you out there know lots about the C5.

Is there anything I should be looking out for on my new limo.

Thanks for any reply.

cheers,

Kev

Its a php board specialty that you cannot search on 2-letter issues. Searching on "C5" will not return much. Searching on "C5" and any word in search field will return you loads. I.e. "C5 brakes" will return you all threads on C5 which contains the word brakes.

I've paid a 100 pound deposit on this C5. But not signed anything yet.

I'm due to pick it up next Tuesday or Wednesday.

Am I mad, or have a got myself a really nice car.

It looks great. But what about the computer, particle filter, build quality.

Come on C5 owners. Tell me what to do !!

Wow, a 2.2 HDi Exclusive SE, sounds like an awesome machine, plenty of power, good economy and the brimming with toys! Hydractive 3+ I think too.

I'd love one of them! C'mon man, be happy. Thumbs up from me, although I know jack schit about them. Good luck with your purchase!

Lets us know how it drives. A little review would be cool!

Regards

Lovely car Yes as with all C5's it will have the odd gremlin in the computer ( but isn’t that part of the fun )

If you don’t mind me asking what’s it setting you back?

It's from a Peugeot dealer for £6295

It comes with MOT, full service and 12 months warranty.

61300 miles and July 02 first registered.

Its got Sat Nav, Rear Parking sensors, cruise control, leather seats, cd changer, all around airbags, Hydractive 3+ etc.

It seems really nice.

Thanks for the support chaps.

I'll let you know how it runs soon.

cheers,

Have had similar model since September last - no problems very relaxing and comfortable, effortless car to drive. Eats the miles with no effort. Encourages you to drive smoothly and safely. When you need it to overrtake ample power in al gears.

See my post on the Particle filter topic.

Also see C5-L forum on Yahoo - dedicated to c5 issues.

Go for it and enjoy.

Hi Fred1.

I did read your article on the particle filter... that's what made me begin to think again... ha ha ha.

Don't worry, I'm going through with the deal.

By the way... is anyone interested in a P reg Xantia 1.9 TurboD... 133K miles and running sweet as a nut..... white. Trade in they've offered me £750 for it. Not a bad trade in price as far as I can tell.

Why not try to negotiate cleaning / changing of the particle filter as part of the deal? I know it's a bit late now you've put a deposit on it, but worth a try.

I've contacted the Peugeot garage to ask them to look at sorting the particulate filter out.

They must surely use the same filter on the 406 and 607 cars with the same engine.

It sounds a bit early for a cam belt change. I'm not too bothered about that right now. Its routine stuff.

I just was a little surprized by what is involved with this filter. But, having read more on it now, it doesn't sound like a big problem.

Zero emissions is amazing.
