Staying in the fold..

Well, I'm sure you'll be pleased to know that my plans to leave french cars in favour of a Rover 420sdi have suffered a setback caused by my purchase of what may be another ebay bargain ( 3 of 3 now ) - a 405 STDT estate !

Needless to say, the 2.0 GTX estate will soon be up for sale. A shame because it's a great car, but I simply can't afford £15 per day on fuel ( and boy do I miss the torque of the turbo diesel ).

Hi

This STDT, Does it have the green & black interior?

The reason I asked is I have a set of the front seat material in my loft, One set still has the cushions on, FREE to any 405 STDT / STI owner who collects them

I bought a pair of STDT front seats just to nick the electric motors & frames for my old 405 Executive & I never threw the covers away lol

Im also sure theres a set of 4 x door cards up there minus the wood clip on trim & the passenger one is minus the door bin at the moment ( Got a spare door bin though ) Also FREE.

Hi Lee,

Yes it is that interior. The seat materials will probably be no use to me, but the door cards will - since the left rear door is locked shut, and you can bet your life I'll end up cutting through / ruining the trim on that door !

Where abouts in the country are you ?

PS. The car is a gem. 317 quid won the auction. The interior is perfect, the exterior more surprisingly so !

A few gremlins - the thermostat needs replacing / inserting ! and for some reason the right headlight and the left rear sidelight are reluctant to stay on

Otherwise, it pulls like a train, and is rattle free.

Good luck with the STDT,had mine for a few years now and its been excellent,it also just past its test with no faults at 185.000 miles.I wondered what that golden retriever was doing sat outside the mot centre

Hi

I am in Northampton & thats junction 15 off the M1.

Anybody who wants the seat trims & the door trims is welcome to them if they pick them up

Ive nicked the wood trim of all the door cards but they are just clipped on & take seconds to swop over & The front passenger side one has had the black door bin removed but I have a spare to replace it with.

Also got a load of dash switches & electric window switches to give away too.

I'd be interested in taking the door cards off you - but I won't be able to collect until the 2nd wekend in April. Is that OK ?

I've changed the themostat - there was no coolant in the housing - and there was rust on the thermostat.

I only had to put 1L of coolant in to have it come out of the housing, and I've put a new thermo in - there are no signs of pressure building in the rad ( recently replaced by prev owner ), and the matrix pipes are hot - and hot air is now coming through to the cabin - so I think it was an 'oversight' from the 'mechanic' who replaced the rad..

Yeah that should be fine, Ill have a look in the loft over the weekend & see if theres any other 405 related bits up there.

Its about time I had a big sort out, Theres 405 bits dotted all round the house lol.
