Hi
My parents have a 2004 Mondeo.
The car came with 2 x keys.
On the Ford PATS transpomder immobiliser system you need 2 x coded keys to code any more keys to the car, If you don't have 2 x coded keys & you need another key coded its then an expensive trip to Fords
So I advised my mother to get another standard key cut & I would code it for her so she can keep it in a safe place for the future ( IE: When my dad misplaces his key again )
She tried the local key cutting place that also repairs shoes & who's name sounds like Simpsons & asked how much for a standard key, After they told her the price she told them to get stuffed & walked out.
Have a guess how much they wanted & ill post the answer up saturday afternoon.
As a guide Ford will charge £19 + VAT to supply & cut the key & I will be getting the key from Fords tomorrow.
I know its not french but its about keys.

I have a bit more information.
I went in to Timpsons & asked the question how much for a standard Ford transponder key.
There answer was "£18 for the normal ones or £65 if you have lost all the keys or dont have the master key"
I said " Its a 2004 Mondeo, Blue chip type of key "
They said " We cannot supply those keys because they are MAIN DEALER ONLY "
I said " How come the blue chip key systems been out since 2001? "
They then said " The equipment needed for those keys is too expensive "
With that I couldnt be bothered to carry on the pointless discussion & walked out
