Clio coolant renewal

Unread post by ClioRT »

Hello, newbie here!
My wife owns a Clio ph3 1.4 RT auto, and I want to find out what the procedure is to change the coolant. Is it a question of taking off the bottom rad hose, or can I find a drain plug somewhere? I think it has an E-type engine...not too sure.

Ok had a look in my Haynes manul (book of lies) for the 1.4 Megane engine.

Remove coolant tank cap
May be a bleed screw on the side of the thermostat housing and one on the heater hoses , remove bottom rad hose and drain coolant.

Refill by opening the bleed screws slowly fill system via coolant tank, when air bubble stop comming from bleed screws tighten them. Fill to top of coolant tank, start engine and let a fast idel start for a pprox 4 mins keeping the tank topped up. Then replace coolant tank cap and run the engine for approx 20 mins or untill the cooling fans cut in. Stop engine and check tank top up to max mark on tank. Remember to keep the heater open as well.

Shouldn't be too different any your engine as most cooling systems are the same set up any how.

Cheers Stuart! Will have a go this weekend, weather permitting. Just bought some of that long life antifreeze( 4yrs), so won't need to change again any time soon hopefully... :)
