406 lost key

:( I have lost the main key to my 2000 Hdi 110.
I have the second key without the lock and deadlock buttons.
What are the procedures for obtaining another, cheapest possible.

Thanks for any replies.

order a key from your dealer which the key no will be required.and also get a new plip this will have to be coded to the car to allow it to work. :wink:
EP6T petrol turbo nice engine in the 207 GT and the new mini....

They will charge for at least 1/2 hour labour for the key coding, and you will need to provide the main dealer with the key card. This is the credit card sized card that comes with the car, and is blue in colour.

This will save you the cost of them having to contact Peugeot on your behalf to obtain the key code, and charging extra for it.

My Peugeot dealer wanted to see the logbook, insurance certificate, both parts of my driving licence, the white key number card, the blue security code card & the car in question before they would even order me my 3rd key for my 206.

They said they would also want to see the MOT certificate if the car was old enough to need one.

Check with your dealer what they need to see before they order a key in.

Powerlee, the fact that they required so many documents etc, is that because you are not known to them, and on their records prior to your visit to order the extra key, or is that normal procedure for them with anyone ?

I am well known to the Peugeot dealer in question, Ive been using them for the last 9 years & im on first name terms with most of the people there, I also get trade discount on parts because im such a good customer :wink:

Sounds ridiculous to me. Especially if you take the car with you. I have a locksmith friend who has the equipment to program most key/ecu's combinations

I queried the price of a plip at a dealer on Thursday. It's the first time I've visited the dealer since they did my MoT 18 months ago, and the chap there didn't seem too fussy about ID or proof of ownership.

I think the fact I had the key with me, and I'd just bought a gearbox mount for the same car seemed to be enough.

Anyway - £75 plus VAT for a plip. £20 on top if I need the code getting from Peugeot. And then it needs programming - he didn't comment on whether this is chargeable too.

In excess of £100 for a plip... :shock:

But then at least I know the alarm is activated :)
