Frozen ZX door mechanism

Apparently the door mech on our ZX has frozen up, and although my wife opened the door OK, it won't latch again. I guess that the mech has got some water in it somewhere, and has gone stiff - but anybody had this before, and know where it's likely to be - rather than me stripping the inside off the door when I get home tonight and it's minus a lot and dark....

The fact that I have the key for the Xantia in my pocket does not exactly make me popular either
