Had a good hunt around today.Cant find anything looking like a nice plug to plug them straight in.No mention in the manual or Hanyes.I expect with a bit of jiggery pokery i could get them to work. Will see how the auction goes.
Cheers.
You carry on & bid.I dont think i`ll bother. Also its pick up only,& i`m back to work next week.Dont know where i`ll be.Its about an hour away for me.
I expect they could be wired up with a simple switch in the car or something.
The heated mirrors are on the same circuit as the heated rear window, theres a relay too so I think there will be some wiring that is easilly accessable.
The thing that I did notice is that the leads on those jets are rather long, meaning that even if you do have the correct plug/socket on your wiring loom, it could be some distance from the washer jets. Needle, haystack?
Yes they are long.I may have a bid on them & see.I reckon if you could get the cable through the bulkhead into the foot well, maybe tap the wires into the mirror circuit by the doors. If not, wire in a fused feed & earth via a switch & simply turn them on & off.
I had them once on my Rover VI.They heated up every time you turned the engine on,for 10 mins.Never had to carry any de-icer .
Didn't realise that mine had them... the Exclusive anyway! I know it is fitted with the 'winter pack' but thought it was just headlight squirters and heated seats.... must try them and see. Perhaps I can find some wiring! (have you ever looked in the engine bay of the V6)
A slightly different approach, if you're after heated washer jets, is to utilise the coolant temperature. My old SAAB (RIP) had a simple heat exchanger fitted in the upper rad hose. This was a unit of coiled copper washer pipe wound around a metal rad hose - and it worked quite well.
I don't know how well this would heat the washer water with some of the high output washers but the Xantia washers don't put out gallons/second like some newer cars do. So something like this may work. There must be a number of cars on the market that used this type of washer water heating in the past.
