CD multichanger...which one?

Unread post by Quinny »

I fancy a multichanger in my 99 406 HDi.

Which one will be compatible with the inbuilt radio/cd player in my car?

If you have any model numbers, and how to fit such a device, then I'll be most grateful.

Hi

Is this 406 multiplexed? Im not sure what year Pug plexed the 406.

If it is plexed then the cd changer will need adding to the BSI system & only a Peugeot dealers laptop can do that.

Also you will need the cd changer bracket, about £15 from a Pug dealer & the mounting holes are already pre drilled at the factory so all you need is a spanner to fit it.

Have a look in the boot & you should find the cd changer cable is already fitted & tucked behind a trim panel.

go onto ebay and type in peugeot cd changer, i bought one for my 306 HDi and paid about£65 + postage for it.

Works a dream, i am sure that it is the same unit that is in the 406, as the one i bought was advertised for a 406. If you look in your boot like PowerLee says, if you have a blue 12 pin plug then any cd changer with the blue 12 pin socket will do i believe.

If the cable isn't there, the only place to source this is Peugeot, and it cost me about £46, and it was a pain in the backside to fit, i ended up paying my local dealer about £30 to fit it, so if they broke any interior trim i wasn't liable!!

Hope this helps.
Regards
David.

I hope your 406 isnt multiplexed, Will need a trip to a Pug dealer before the cd changer will work.

Why don't you buy an MP3 player instead? I've got a Panasonic in my 306. You can fit 27 CDs on to one disc (WMA at 64KB). It'll be cheaper and easier, but it won't be an original part of course. You can even get a DAB/MP3 for £100 now!
