xantia vsx exhaust HELP!!!

Hi I have an early model xantia 2.0l 16V VSX (the fast one?) and I had to change the cat coz it broke, I cut through the bolts fitted the new cat and it leaked I got a citroen fitting kit new seal bolts ect. My question is in the kit are two metal/asbestos? washers so do these washers go in between the flanges or outside next to the spring. I think that they probably go inbetween purely because of the asbestos type material to stop the pipe moving around too much. But your help is needed please.

no no no they go between the washers and the flandge,out side off the joint,also you MUST NOT PUT ANY JOINTING PASTE OR SEALER IN /OR ON THE JOINT AT FRONT OF CAT,because if anything goes in through the front end it can cause damage to the cat
