xantia reservoir overflow

MY 97 Xantia leaked htm fluid overnight. Had a new pipe, then valve to power streering pump. Since then it has overflowed, while stationary, from the htm reservoir. Could this be air in the system? OR WHAT?

I think that the most likely answer is that it is over full. Is the level indicator working correctly?

I HAVEN'T CHECKED IT PERSONALLY AS I LEFT IT IN THE HANDS OF A MECHANIC. I ASSUME HE WOULD HAVE CHECKED THAT . THANKS ANYWAY
