You really need to check your motor policies VERY carefully, as the 3rd party extension is often only valid if the vehicle in question has it's own insurance policy to cover the owner to drive it (I.E. in this case your wife would need to have insurance on the Uno for you and your son to be able to drive it)

In the past I have had some policies that state this is necessary, and some policies that don't.

Malcolm... where do you get your motor traders policy from? that's better than any quote I've managed to get for a group policy!

You also need to check the detail of your "other car" entitlement as often a car owned by your spouse is counted as being owned by yourself. You remember those vows, what's mine is yours and what's yours is yours too?

Watch your next renewal very carefully - several major companies are now removing DOC (driving other cars) cover.

Also when you park the car and leave it (public place), it becomes uninsured! There is much debate of 'driving other cars' versus 'in charge of'!!
88 BX 1.7 Diesel Turbo now gone
PICASSO 1.6 HDi 92 - time will tell!
83 TR7 conv never welded yet!
96 Fiesta 1.25 x 2
87 VW GTI waiting cam belt (no time)

But when you go for insurance they ask if you have had ANY claims in the last 5 years, not have you had any claims on this particular car or policy.
The fact that both cars were with one company mean't they didn't need to ask you as they already knew.
