Re-post from GSF froum
Citroen Xantia 1998 1.9 SX tdi
I have an intermittent ticking, virtually the same noise as the indicator makes.. It seems to be coming from the instrument panel area. May well be a relay falling in and out. Happens at randon but mainly when engine revs low. Usually when engine still cold. No warning lights except the usual Airbag one. (which has returned after having a summer holiday) Is this a known one? Is there an instrument voltage regulator which could make this noise? Or couldit be a temerature operated thingy in the air inlet system?
An running on Bio fuel V100 if that is at all relevant.
Any offers appreciated.
Have been advised that it could be pressure regulator, front sphere or aircon cluch or airflow temp control flaps.
But it really sounds like the indicator though it hasn't happened in the last few days.

It sounds like the indicator relay.... this apparently is quite common especially if the vehicle has stood for awhile.... will usually go away with regular operation

Ours has done this intermittently for four years. Now it is less often than when we bought the car from an owner who used it rarely. I've decided to leave mine well alone unless smoke appears (which did happen to our 306 with the same complaint. New switch and $$$$$ fixed it perfectly!!!).rpaco wrote:Thanks will try it, but as per normal it wont make the noise now! Have a feeling it's hiding until it becomes more expensive!Clogzz wrote:Operating the emergency flasher switch a few times may cure it too.
