Some nice Citroens

Unread post by JohnD »

In Northern Spain recently I came across a yard containing some interesting Citroens. The little red job is a 2CV. Anybody identify the other one.

The lower picture IS of a Traction avant (French for front power). It's one of the first front wheel drive cars ever produced (before the Leyland Mini). One of the first Citroen's to be built in Britain, if the first as my memory serves me correct? Im sure somebody on here will know more info than me [:I]... - Alex.

Think it was the first major production car to have a monoquoqe body construction with no separate chassis too.

Must be! As far as I could make out, the guy wanted 15000 Euros for it. Also - there's one on e-bay with a current bid of £12000 - and 2 days to go!

I saw one this June in an exhibit of old timers in Lisbon, teh 11CV Familiale (very rare), in bordeaux too, selling for 25.000 euros!
Adam, the 11CV was the first mass production monocoque car integrating front wheel drive and hydraulic brakes.
The Lancia Lambda was one of the first monocoque cars into production, but the 11CV as the DS integrated in one package all the best in the industry.
