Dash bulb source in Scotland

Aberdeen to be specific. Want to get them in decent quantity to replace all bulbs in my zx, don't fancy doubling the cost with postage so a local source would be handy. Any recommendations?

By post would probably be your cheapest option as the bulbs are usually cheaper, try GSF (this forum) or CPC on the net.

anyy scrappie, just take along a multimeter to test the ones you take out. take one of your bulbs with you as there are 2 types. try 405's xantias, zx, ax, etc etc. jusbe rough and you can rip out the clocks witout undoing ANYTHING!!![}:)] Try to sanp that speedo cable, the sign of a good tug. Very therapeutic.

Try ebay. The same bulbs are used on slot machines which are also 12 volt and you can buy packs of 50 for a few pounds

Found some on ebay, let's see if I win them. Currently at £1.04 for 100, plus £2 postage. I can live with that!

Last time I was down in Aberdeen (I'm up at Kinloss), I just popped into the scrappy at Persley, over at Bridge of Don.
It's Aberdeens last "Walk-in and get your own bits" scrappy. There's usually a Xantia and an XM or two lying about. I got more dash bulbs than I could ever need in my lifetime.....

why use second hand bulbs in a place which is not strait forward to get to as they dont cot a lot of dosh,i thought i had jewish blood

My local friendly accessory shop sells them for some pence each. Interestingly the last load I bought didn't fit well in the ZX heater panel unit and I had to do a lot of fiddling with the wire connections to get them to work properly.

these are cap less bulbs so they should just push in to the holders,unless you have the ones that are fixed and have to replace the holder as well,i have not as yet seen any that have been a bad fit,it would be interesting to know the make of the ones that didnt fit properly

How about spending a bit more and getting replacement LEDs instead? You'll never have to change them again. Having said that, both the Cits I have had have had dash bulbs that 'rest' between periods of working - the AX used to have dark areas for months before they sprung back into life! (Bloody Cits...)

Well, I got a pack of 100 bulbs on Ebay for a decent price, replaced every bulb I could find and still have a load left so if anyone needs some, drop me a line
