Sluggish 406

Post by mak224751 »

Hi All,
I have got a 2002 (52plate) Peugeot 406 2.0 HDI 90 Rapier. The problem I have is that it does not seem to accelerate very well. The accelerator cable was loose in the engine bay which I have tightened This has made pressing the accelerator pedal easier but does not seem to have improved the acceleration. I probably wouldn't have noticed but my 1990 Citroen BX 17 TZD Turbo estate feels a lot quicker.
As a side issue on the 406 should there be an orange glow plug light on the dash as I don't seem to have one I just wait until the 'Stop' light goes out then start the engine but in the mornings it does take a few turns before the engine fires

Hi
On the HDI engines you need at least minus 2C outside before the glowplugs will kick in.
