the picasso saga continues

The picasso is back at the lads place. The throttle position sensor is a vdo unit having the following numbers :

which are bearly visible on the cable body part of the unit.

The unit has 4 wires ( not 3 as shown in the citroen wiring diagram ) being : light purple, green, light blue and finally yellow.

I am in the process of wiring in some break out wires so i can connect the scope to the wires and "see" whats going on.

I have tried VDO for info but the on line catalogue is poor.

Anyone out there had/have experience of these units please.

The removable back covers a potted circuit that seemingly has a large copper "earthed ? " heat sink, so they are expecting it to get warm??

I have not removed the "inner" cover as that plastic dog drive ( peg to cable and slot to circuit ) is sprung loaded and feels fine. I wonder if its the same type as on the pug 306, 2 half moon off set magnets with "hall effect ? " sensors???

Anyone out there have any info on this unit please. Towards the end of the week we will post some results, also for the crank and cam sensors when we have wired in some break out wires for them.

When we moved the picasso 2 days ago, it had been standing for a few weeks and started straight away, and made it up the 2 hills to the lads place from cold, but the engine misfire and mucking about at about 1/4 throttle was still there with no mil light coming on after it went out after starting.

We intend looking at the tpps, cam and crank sensors with the scope first, to either rule them in or out.

The confusion will be over the type of accelerator control fitted. There were 2 types and either could be fitted according to your VIN. They ultimately changed over to pedal-based electronic potentiometer, but you may have the mechanical accelerator cable or the mechanical pedal that controls the remote electronic sensor.

So the wiring for the 3 wire version is as follows: There is no diagram for the mechanical type though that I have.

Pin 1 is M1316 (Yellow & Green) "EGR" motor A- control
Pin 2 is 352: (Green) Camshaft sensor power supply
Pin 3 is 1351: (Yellow) Lambda sensor heating power supply

Here is a picture of the non-electrical pedal version - and as you can see has the wires you are describing. Unfortunately I don't have the diagram for this older version.

Interstingly Intermotor list a new unit but it has 3 wires??

gmac please could you post the parts view and part numbers for the throttle pedal position sensor please, as there may have been a modified part. You have the lads vin etc.....thanks in advance.

thanks mark that looks just like the unit, the vdo one connected to the throttle pedal via a throttle cable.

Has the maf mod been done on maf sensor?
We seem to have same setup.
You can view links on mine post for info.
It seems that on some setups, SOMETIMES maf earth wiring is giving voltage on earth wires as I understood leading to all kind of problems...

Been in contact with VDO, they say that this sensor was never available to the after market??

They suggest asking Citroen/pug.......

Roberts, no mass airflow sensor fitted, just this throttle pedal position sensor, the 4 wire one.
Will have a look at your posts.

Not refitted the unit yet as rain has stopped play, well it does rain a lot here......
