Remove old heated matrix xantia s2
Hello all,
In the begining of this year my windscreen was steamed every day and I discover that the heat matrix is broken.
I managed to dismantle the dashboard but now I don't know what should I do next to remove that matrix
Please give me some advices.

Re: Remove old heated matrix xantia s2
I would hold on for an expert to spot this post. I have not yet had the 'pleasure' of replacing the heater matrix.

Thank you all, but I think I read all threads on this forum for replace heated matrix. I have seen all photos and I know that I have to pull the heater assembly but my biggest concern is for a.c. pipes. I'm afraid to break something.

Re: Remove old heated matrix xantia s2
Hi, I was lucky that my Xantia didn't suffer this common fault. I have removed the heater matrix (just for fun) in a scrap car As far as I remember you don't have to touch/remove any air condition pipes but be careful with this connection of heater hoses which are in the engine room side. They should be disconnected carefully. There are two O-ring seals on them which might be also good to replace.xf1ref wrote: I know that I have to pull the heater assembly but my biggest concern is for a.c. pipes. I might add some pics but first I have to search them

Edit: I guess you also have LHD car so pics will be more familiar
This pic is not taken by me but I just edited it to show the clip locking mechanism.
When it is locked it stays there as shown with orange colored line.
In order to remove:
1. move the metal clip to the right with your thumb in the arrow direction (see pic).
2. when the locking part is free, still keeping your thumb on the clip (forcing it to the right side)
3. at the same time pull equally both hoses off (pull towards the engine)

If this is of any help great.......the heater assembly is a huge chunk of the finest plastic, and the matrix is in a little box right at the back (red pointer)

Here are Xantia MK2 (LHD) heater matrix pics I have taken from a scrap car.
If you make mirror image of these then it becomes a RHD Xantia

Re: Remove old heated matrix xantia s2
If you haven't figured it out already, you don't touch the A/C and blower housing, the housing with the heater matrix comes off the firewall separately.xf1ref wrote:Thank you all, but I think I read all threads on this forum for replace heated matrix. Re: Remove old heated matrix xantia s2
Thank to all for advices and pictures.
Is too late to be careful with heater hoses connector . The plastic of that elbow was very brittle and finally it broke.
I managed to separate the heater assembly and to change te old matrix and yesterday I finished to put all back together. All the whole thing took me a week, every day after work.
Now I wait to receive the heater elbow connector and to feel the heat without antifreeze on the windcreen.
By the way, in the first picture what it that black thing? A temperature sensor?

Re: Remove old heated matrix xantia s2
A good man from my country citro forum sent me a connector with hoses from a 1.9 td xantia. He have several cars in the backyard for spare parts.
I hope tomorrow I will receive the connector and I will use two connecting pipes with four hose clamp.
