Dispatch not starting

Post by g7tzz »

Hi all, I'm new to the forum so hope I'm posting in the right area. I've just bought myself a 2000 Dispatch 1.9D none starter. After charging the battery it turns over ok but won't start. The lights come on on the dash and the immobiliser light goes off, the glow plug relay is working but that's about it. There is fuel at the pump but not the injectors. One thing I noticed while under the bonnet is the glow plug relay clicks on and off when the ignition is off every few seconds.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Jon.

Yes it's the 1.9 non turbo, I presumed it could be stop solenoid but I couldn't find one, there are 2 4pin connectors on the pump but I can't see where they go.

maybe the stop solenoid is hidden inside the immobiliser armour on the back of the pump,

or it might be the immobiliser its self

were are you located

I'm in Geddington, Northamptonshire. Is there any diagrams or pictures available for the pump as I can't seem to find much information about this engine. Is there a way of testing the immobilizer/stop solenoid.
Thanks Jon.

not really much to go wrong on these engines.
Have you cracked the pipes that go to the injectors and turn the engine over, small amount of fuel means either pump solonoid or as I have seen happen the AA man managed to damage the pump whilst trying to bleed the system.
If it is the stop solonoid it is possible to de armour the pump although it is a one time thing ( you wont have an immobiliser ).
When you got the vehicle did you know what happened to it.
There are some good photos on here of the bosch pump, I assume there will be some of the epic lucas as well. If I find them in my previous post I'll tag you in them.

found the link to the post I made on this problem, there maybe a few things in it that will help.

I bought the van as a non runner, the guy who owned it said it just didn't start one day. There is no fuel at the injectors.
I presume the stop solenoid is under the pump or between the pump and engine as I cant see it. I don't mind loosing the immobiliser
if I need to. Does it have to come off or can it be bypassed.

does this wagon have the key pad imobaliser

the stop solenoid is on the end of the pump just above were the injector pipes connect,
but if it has an immobiliser it will be under/inside the immobiliser armour,

i de/ armoured/immobilised my old XANT in situe, time consuming/fiddly, but doable,

there are some tricky and hidden shear bolts you will need to get at, which on mine involved cutting ( with an angel grinder and dremal type tool with a cutting discs ) chunks of the armour away just to get at some of them,

to de/ immobilise it you have to remove it with the armouring, then connect a switched live straight to the stop solenoid,

you pick up the switched live feed from one of the square plug connectors attached to the bracket on the pump just below were the throtle cable inner seats

Ok thanks for the replies, I'll get the hammers and grinder out then.lol I'll search for immobilizer before I start, I don't want to strip it all down to find there is no feed to the immobilizer. I have an ignition live on one of the connectors but I don't know what the other pins do.

dont worry about the other pins, i think if memory serves it was an ignition live in the square black plug block, then the rest in that block are redundant
