MK1 and MK2 Xantia front wing compatibility

Post by John Plum »

Do you know whether Mk1 and Mk2 front outer wings are exchangeable, swappable, identical?
Cheers

no John, quite sure they are not ;( - I cant quite remember why not..
others will know ,

if they are, then you may need headlamps from the same mark as the wing..
which may mean bonnet
which could then include bumper etc

erm

Yes...and no!

Looks like 2 types for MK1: 1 for V6 / 2.1TD / 2.0T (to accommodate the wider track); and 1 for everything else.

The wider wings for MK1 are then carried over into MK2.

So, anything will probably fit, but a narrow wing from a MK1 car might look a bit odd on a MK2 car (although the difference in track is small IIRC).

I thought only the 2.0HDi 110 and V6 had wide wings on the Mk2's?

Yess.... Only the Big Engine'd S1 cars will do for you, thats Xantia V6, Xantia Activa or Xantia 2.1 TD engine'd cars.

ALL S2 Wings have the wider arch though, like "Big Engine'd" S1's.

Service Citroen: S2 have ONLY ONE Wing part number, and so far are STILL available: 7840 J6 for Left
7841 L3 for Right
Sharing a pug 207 1.6 hdi Sw 16v.
M reg Xm 2.1 td auto exclusive S2 269k and rising
L reg XM V6 12v SEi auto .. Light project

A very sad...

So, as I get it, the S1 models above would suit as donor for track width and larger wheel arch; With S2s , watch out for certain S2 wideboys, which have an even wider track?

Yes, by about 10mm per side.
