2006 Citroen Relay Van (melted connection)

Post by crookie83 »

hi,

can anyone tell me what this connection is or called that's situated right next to the oil cap? as you will see in the picture it looks as though it has been melted.

Any help would be appreciated.

It looks rather close to exposed exhaust pipe - notice the oil filler cap is melted on one side as well.

Are you sure there isn't a heat shield missing off the exhaust ?

I would definitely agree with Mandrakes' comment.

yes its quite possible that there is some sort of heat shield missing i will get that looked at.

This wouldn't cause the indicators to fail would it?

Can't see how it would, but it will stop the engine running if it gives way completely...

looking at it it looks like your egr valve is passing hot exaust gas - looks like you need a new egr. no other heat shield is fitted to the egr valve only the one on the flexi pipe but i can see that is still fitted.
