Diagbox Change Logs
Members often ask "Do I need to upgrade my version"? Well hopefully, by looking at the version you have and scanning through the changes made on later versions, you will be able to see if there is anything in particular that affects your vehicle. As an example, I found some telecoding issues that affected my C5 X7 in Version 7.66 that were later corrected - so that warranted me upgrading, as my central locking plip options had disappeared from the central display after using a prior version!
Just be aware:- before making a decision about upgrading your Diagbox version, make sure your hardware interface will support any firmware upgrade that may be needed to use the later versions of the software. If an update requires a newer firmware version, it will attempt to upgrade the hardware, so if your interface is too old, it may not work and could end up bricking your hardware

There is a solution to prevent the automatic upgrading of the firmware (thanks to Andy for cobbing together the procedure), but please be aware that some newer updates to Diagbox may not fully work without the VCI (Vehicle Communications Interface) having the required firmware update. It will, however, save your interface from being 'bricked' if you know you have an earlier interface (i.e. Revision 'B'), and want to try a newer version of the software without the risk!
To tell Diagbox to not update the firmware in the interface:
First ensure that Diagbox is shut down completely then open c:\ awroot \ bin \ launcher \ ap.ini
Near the top of that file find:
CODE: SELECT ALL
MAJ_COM=TRUE
Change to:
CODE: SELECT ALL
MAJ_COM=FALSE
Save the file.
A reboot is strongly recommended to allow the changes to be take effect before you re-use Diagbox.
Reverse this procedure if you have replaced your Hardware interface with a 'full chip' Revision 'C' Interface to allow Diagbox to apply any relevant firmware updates.
