French Car Forum

It could be empty again!

I share your hopes Jim, 'though I've not known anything else - which was why I expressed surprise at the way so many raved about how wonderful these rallys had been in the last couple of years.

2018 is the 40th Anniversary for the Visa

Thanks for making me feel really old.

It was a good week in good and knowledgeable company. Even managed to talk about a taboo subject on here, politics, it turns out that Chris and I have very similar thoughts there despite me being Scottish, and him English living in Spain. Thats all I shall say on here, although I could talk about it for hours! I did not take many photos, having...

Weather is not much better down here Davie but it is improving... Should be good by the time you get here... This afternoon may see a few light showers - hopefully when I'm not riding my bike home...

Have a great flight - when it eventually departs... Good job it's not RyanAir... They have a new way to ensure punctuality now - cancel them

Some of are driving up on Friday, we are meeting up at Forton Services (northbound side) about 10am before heading further north to tackle the Hardknott pass......

Anybody is welcome to join us, at either the pass or on the way north. We will be meeting outside Fell Foot Farm which is the start of the pass at about 2pm, if anybody wants to join...

Ahh right because I know a couple of people around by me are going but some have Renaults peugeots or Citroen

As a social gathering of Citroenistes it's really quite pleasant &, as I've mentioned before, I've learned that the enjoyment to be had increases exponentially with the number of people you know/meet BUT it's the annual national meeting of club for the products of a major car manuafacturer, so shouldn't one's expectations be greater?

That I don't...

All my T-shirts are distinctive!

Me too, but sure I'm ready for that yet.

Same here, definitely not ready to join him yet though ;)

Ill have to work out if its practical for me to get down there for this after out NC500 run the week before. It could well work in and be doable if finances permit.

Anyone who is doing this tour is welcome to drop in to see me on the Friday (the day starting in Bourg-en-Bresse), as you will be going right past our door. I am happy to go to a local brasserie for lunch before you head off to the chateau at Savigny.

PM me for details.

more than welcome Steve, it was good to see you

It was a good day out, the little boy enjoyed running around like a lunatic, I had to keep reeling him back in. It would have been even better if we'd arrived a bit earlier and I'd had the courage to get myself a test drive in a Tesla... I had all the paperwork to do test drives filled out and handed over but I chickened out! :(

Next...

just a mention that I haven't forgotten and hope to be meeting at least a couple of you there :)

will post again / be in contact / similar nearer the time :)

On the way Jim, thankyou.

Excellent :)

Might've been fun, but too short notice, already bought my train tickets for next w/e AND, it's the week before I go on holiday - shame!

Not sure of the dates but one in Stamford (Burghley House) in April (X-rally) and one in Bishops Stortford a bit later - June or July I think - announcements will appear in this forum eventually.

Now that would be definitely be good Gibbo...

Actually, on that day I'm busy running a half-marathon :)

We could go down in convoy Zel ;)

Van, delighted you enjoyed it :D

Don't know how many Xantias were there, but certainly very few compared to the many DS, CX and even BX.
I did meet some very enthusiastic Dutch Xantia owners and some of the concours judges certainly realised that Xantias are becoming rare and are special.

Must have been over 120 cars there, a few bikes and scooters, and some rare vehicles. From a Bond Bug with trailer, to Rolls Royces, VW camper vans and Karmann Ghias, to Lotus Cortina, Chevrolet Bel-air and Corvette Stingray, to Austin chummy and Morris Minor, and much more beside.

The Citroen contingent:

Think there were a dozen or so CX's on the sunday. Think there were more Xantias than anything really!!

10 hours to do 400 miles with all the stops I had. Installed in a b&b in Harrogate. Cheap b&bs, I love them! Tiny single room, but it has an en suite, TV, and kettle with coffee and milk. All that I need!

Pleased your new one is good Tim :D I was well impressed with it and great to see a base-spec model in such lovely nick.. So often the base-spec models are ignored. Yours is a keeper ;)

.......Tom Simpson's memorial on Mont Ventoux...

That's 143kms from the closest point of the Challenge route (Le Roustou Camp site) so it's a bit of a detour Jim ;) But of course if you're down those parts, it's possible...

I won't be doing that on this trip Phil but it's on my list of things I want to get done..

I may even do it during my...

There are two CCC Rallies that take place in Little Horwood near Buckingham, the DS Rally in June and the Chevrons Rally in September. Both aee well attended by many and various Citroens and FCF mambers..

We 'locals' in the region often have ad-hoc meet-ups...

Normally arranged by the Citroen Car Club, the South East group also has a Facebook page I think....

I consider myself highly privileged to have visited the Conservatoire last year.. It is a true Mecca for any Citroen devotee and a visit is highly recommended...

It's been a regular event for me since it started.
Probably plan this year is to take the Cadillac home to Devon Friday night & bring the C15 back on the Sunday, via Shepton Mallet

Already booked this :) Really looking forward to it!

This date has now changed to Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd November.

Also Andrew is also looking for an H Van to do some catering, if anybody can help then please get in touch with Andrew on the number above.

There have been a few late cancellations, and the possibility of using a brand new annex at the hotel, so anyone fancying coming to this please book as above, not forgetting to let Robert know.
Should be good, with two runs for those who want to see the surrounding area, and other entertaining events planned.

Way to SHOUTY for me mate...Bucket exhausts and Plasti Dip all over the place, not the type of event for an middle aged French lady however racy she was or what she still has under her peasant skirts :)

It's all Jim's fault, he leads everybody astray [-X

:rofl2:

Nothing better than being led astray.

Absolutely!!! I quite agree :-D

Had some of my very best adventures that way...

NEXT YEAR:

Excellent :-D Looking forward to it already!

Late post, but only having ever seen one C6 before (and that was parked in Wallasey), the sight of 26 was awesome. Well done Steve and David and all who attended to make it a great weekend. Regards

I was referring to the typo in your previous post. I think what you meant was;

No, C6 ones

instead of

No C6 ones.

 I know I can be picky, but that comma does change the context. Still, you know my sense of humour!

As a result of a change of heart/plans, I hope to there on the Sunday (unless someone can persuade me it'd be worth going up Saturday & staying over).

Be useful so see a selection of Xantias, as I'm now thinking about getting one!
