Eric's not well.
Have been in hospital for the last few weeks, diagnosed with prostate cancer, home now for long term treatment but may not be much contact.

That's a real bummer Eric but we're all pulling for you and hopefully you'll recover soon.

Re: Eric'not well.
Whoof, sorry to hear that Eric. However, chin up as treatments have improved a lot over the past few years. It wasn't prostate cancer in my case but I am currently in remission and showing no signs of reoccurrence.
As I get older I think a lot about the hereafter - I go into a room and then wonder what I'm here after.

Sorry to here that Gibbo. I hope that through your current challenges you can remain positive.
You are a tremendous asset to the forum, and your experience is second to none., both in your trade tips, and your practical approach to solving car related problems, as well as wide interests and experiences to be a great contributor to the "off-topic" section. Your "On my Walk" thread is an FCF classic about your resurrection of the C5 in the field minus an autobox taken in your stride at 86 years old at the time!. Total admiration from me for that!

Re: Eric'not well.
Gibbo, if you need to take time out for yourself then please do so. The Forum will be here, ready for when you want to 'chat'. Until then just do what is necessary to battle against the cancer. Take care and stay safe.

Re: Eric'not well.
Sorry to hear that Gibbo!
Keep your chin up, stay positive and get it booted into touch.
My late reply shows just how little attention I pay to sections other than Citroen on the FCF!!!
If you need to undergo an operative procedure then ask to be admitted to a hospital where they use robots like Sheffield Teaching Hospitals. A long way from home I appreciate but they are at the forefront of urology stuff. Professor Chris(topher) Chapple. An all-round top chap with heaps of humility and humanity to boot. Not sure he handles that side now as he has retired from STH but still practises at BMI Thornbury Hospital.
The use of robotics in this area generally results in a very quick recovery compared to the old fashioned methods.

Re: Eric'not well.
At home now and improving daily, had a visit yesterday from Mick and Jim which was very nice, decided today that it was time to give shopping a go so popped to the local Tesco, tiring but all worked out ok.Rhothgar wrote: 15 Nov 2024, 12:28 Sorry to hear that Gibbo!

Re: Eric'not well.
Glad you're the other side of the operation and starting to get back to some sort of routine.

I bloke I worked with had his completely removed, he said the hardest bit of his recovery was climbing onto a hospital bed in just a gown and having a young nurse watch him do pelvic thrusts, looking from his feet !
On a more positive note, unlike the rest of us, you won't have your doctor wanting to put their finger up your bum at every visit.
