Peugeot 3008 Parking Sensors

Having cracked a rear fog unfortunately water crept into the parking sensor and into the wiring loom. This resulted in intermittent faulty sensors and finally the system stopped working. 4 sensors were changed and the wiring loom replaced. This did not resolved the issue. The ECU was then changed. Upon plugging the diagnostic in, faults still remain. Am tearing hair out as to what the issue is now. Can anyone shed any light?
Current faults:
B1225 Interior Front Right Sensor Fault: Short circuit to earth or open circuit

B1226 Exterior Front Right Sensor Fault: Short circuit to earth or open circuit

B1224 Exterior Rear Left Sensor Fault: Short circuit to earth or open circuit

B1228 Exterior Rear Right Sensor Fault: Short circuit to earth or open circuit

I would of suggested it wasn't the water from a fog light to be honest as they are on a separate loom.

Further, as you have issues with both front and rear sensors, that would also support a separate issue and they have separate earthing points. My first thoughts are with the parking assistance ECU. Are you absolutely sure no liquid has been spilt onto the unit, as it won't be the first time this has been a cause.

Many thanks for your response. The rear fog was full of water, I didn’t know I had a damaged light to be honest. I did have a few days of very wet weather before the parking sensors started playing up and then they packed up altogether. It was quite a few weeks before I got it looked at. The loom was wet and corroded, subsequently replaced and then the sensor ecu. No liquids have been spilt anywhere.

Ok so I'm now thinking that maybe this is an issue if the parking assistance ECU is in the rear wing. Where was the water coming from? Does there look like signs of water ingress into the unit?

Although a different vehicle, the parking assistance ECU on my C5 X7 was located under the rear boot floor next to the spare tyre well. Thanks to Halfrauds quality control, a 5 litre bottle of berry scented screen wash leaked out through the floor boot mats and into the PA ECU. Had intermittent issues for weeks until the techs said 'you know, there 's a very strong smell of berries in your boot and a lot of purple dye everywhere' and once they said that - I know exactly what had happened.

Took me 2 weeks to clean it out with electrical contact cleaner and dry it several times before I got it working properly again.

Hi Marc

The parking sensor ecu is located on the passenger side of the boot behind a side panel. You have to remove a small flap and sound proofing to get to it. It was assumed that the water ingress came through the cracked light, which when removed was full of water. The wiring loom was actually corroded and wet. So subsequently replaced and when that didn’t solve the issue, the parking sensor ecu replaced. Which is now returning the faults mentioned above

Righto, so the old water in the lights issues are still plaguing the brand - DS7s are having a bad time with this issue.

So we have to consider that with your PA ECU where it is, that water has run down the loom and crossed into the sensor looms. On my earlier C5, MK II, I also had an issue with the sensors - one seemed to go, was replaced, then another one went, then another one.... Turns out that the stupid loom for the rear sensors was too low and water was getting onto the sensor loom and running down into the back of the sensors.

So they routed the sensor loom below the sensor level, lower down, so that any water would drip away and not get anywhere near them. Solved the problem but cost me for at least 3 sensors that were ruined.

It was the rear fog light in the bumper that was cracked, which sits slightly above the parking sensor. The ECU is situated quite a distance above the sensor?

So could be that the water has transferred from the fog after sploshing about and across down onto the sensor loom after all, then got into the backs. Is it always the same sensors that are reporting faults or random positions?

It’s the same sensors reporting faults. I’m presuming that interior would mean the ones nearest the centre of the car?

Yes, that's correct, the 2 inner most ones.

And the exterior would be not the very outer but the next ones in?
