Diagnostic Kit for my C3 Picasso

Post by CitroJim »

I'm keen to obtain the requisite kit to perform diagnostics on my C3 Picasso.

I got in touch with Jim at EasyDiagnostics and he tells me he's not supplying anything suitable currently as he's expecting a new system to be available early next year...

I'd really like something in place sooner and see there's still loads of Lexia/Diagbox kit available on eBay.

Does anybody have any recommendations/advice as to what might be the best to get? I'm of the belief I'll need one that's described as 'Full Chip'...

Thanks:)

Well, if you need to run diagnostics before Easy Diagnostics get their new equipment in give me a shout, and I will head up with mine. If we have time afterwards you can try my new (to me) electric vehicle.

That will be interesting to see Jim. I've long been looking for something that a lot less of a faff than the latest incarnations of Diagbox and the like - specifically the glitches and incompatibility issues that are becoming more of an issue with Diagbox V9.**. It's why I've held off getting another laptop just to support DB9.** and with the Aircross under warranty, I've not had any reason to get one.

If ED Jim's considering something new and affordable that will do what we need / near dealer level for the marques, then great - but as long as it's not ridiculously expensive! :-D

Thanks James, if I have an issue before my kit is procured, I'll be straight onto you :) I'm keen to have my own kit so I can get familiar with all the new stuff at my own pace...

I wonder if he's managed to source some clone units of the newer (and looking at the features, vastly superior) CoreXS interface - https://elite-diagnostic-solutions.com/ ... -interface

They look to have a much better design than the older Evolution kits (aka Lexia), which I'm currently having issues with

... but at nearly £2000 these will not be suitable for most DIYers casual use.

Join the FB group 'Peugeot Planet 2000 & lexia Diagbox Diagnostics Group UK Based' - you can download an update to date version of the software, configured to run in VM machine, so no installation faff (although you do need a Windoze machine that supports virtualisation). You need a Rev C full chip interface, sure there are plenty on ebay. As an alternative you could consider a TopDon machine - won't quite do everything a Diagbox will do, but on the other hand it will talk to other cars, and there are some cheap deals floating about at the moment.

I'd be aware of that TopDon system, no mention of Peugeot or Citroen and didn't work with Fiat according to reviews and not updatable. Can't telecode with it and I doubt with only 8 functions it can do anything with SCR (Adblue) systems. I think this is more aimed at the American market, but more Chinese sellers are infiltrating Amazon UK with their crap now as widely being complained about.

I didn't go the topdon route as i also saw a lot of bad reviews , my lovely wife went part towards my box as a birthday gift this year & its paid for itself over & over . Once the year subscription runs out , well just before you can back up everything to sd card then reinstall again and it runs fully with everything bang up to date , tbh its as updated as i will ever need it to be. It even worked on my 307 when other tools can't even see a 307

For what it's worth, I've got a Topdon Topscan unit ( https://www.amazon.co.uk/TOPDON-Topscan ... B0C3QQYQ1B ) which is able to read and clear codes from both my DS5 Hybrid and C4 Picasso.

No telecoding options, but it can do some maintenance functions, e.g. DPF replacement, forced regen, etc.
