All things Renault Wind
A stop in the tracks shutter clicking moment yesterday caused by a Wind.
The location Driving past the ranks of cars in the carpark on the way to the exit, spotted a Wind which just stood out of the blandness of the rest and couldnt fight the compulsion to park up and click the shutter. After all it was "red" and I had never seen a red one before.
Parked, walked back 50 Yards and Oh No! Too late for the surreptitious shutter click, there was the driver with a trolley load of shopping about to load it up into the boot. At that point the diplomatic retreat with the minimum of embarrassment would have been the normal strategy to adopt, but it was a red Wind, and caution was thrown to the wind, and I initiated a conversation, and as it turned out a very pleasant one helped by my genuine interest in the car and the driver more than willing to chat about it, and clearly enthusiastic and loved the Wind too.
So here it is, with kind permission of the owner.

Re: All things Renault Wind
The red is pretty rare, not many other colours to pot, white, black, and probably a deeper blue shade than this one spotted today.
The other rare colour is a Grey
The Wind had a short production run, 2010 to 2013 with most of the used cars now on the market being 2011 vintage.
The 1.6 is valued higher than the 1.2 and prices on the windscreens are £2,500 ish to just under £5,000.

Re: All things Renault Wind
There is a decent article within this post to bring into the Wind's own thread.

I have noticed one or two of these knocking about, wondered if they were appropriate for the open-toppage thread and indeed they are, you may expect them to be from the name. Odd looking thing, yes but as odd looking things get a bit of age they become a little more interesting
The genuine original spotting in the wild snapshot is here
and here is the top down view from the RetroMotor article...Great Motoring Disasters..Renault Wind.

Re: All things Renault Wind
Just mopping up into it's own thread the various contributions about the Renault Wind, including a ringing endorsement by Mick's friend Bob of his experience of owning a Renault Wind.

Neilmickthemaverick wrote: ↑01 Jul 2020, 23:3920 points goes to Steve. Bob has had it from new, 9 years, and it is the first car which he has had to have MOT's done since his Mk1 Cortina and HB Viva days. He made a decision to buy new every 2 years throughout the eighties and nineties and then in 2000 he bought an MX5 which he kept for 3 years until he needed a decent boot. He had three Alfa 147s then over the next 8 years and then the Wind blew in and he hasn't looked back (there's no point you can't see anything ) He absolutely loves it and he has had 52000 miles of trouble free fun, apart from a slight leak in the roof rectified by the dealer under warranty.

Spotted a Wind in real life again today,
Just noticed those wiper linkages, look a bit of an overcomplicated dog's breakfast! Neil

A bit of Wind spotting north of the border. Compulsory stopping and shutter-clicking.

Re: All things Renault Wind
I regard Renault Wind Spotting as a bit of a game now. Happy for anyone else to join in. Infrequent enough to maintain an interest. This one is another Roxburghshire spot, in probably the most often spotted colour...

Re: All things Renault Wind
Welcome Edward, looks great. How on earth did you find the FCF, and its most neglected section ie Renault, and my obscure thread on Renault Wind spotting
I missed this one at Mathewsons earlier this year, surely bargain basement for a bit of fun , doesn't appear on their results list for February 2023, which usually show unsold cars...maybe it was withdrawn

Re: All things Renault Wind
...and the Renault Wind spot today was indeed a grey one. With a camera battery running out I had to engineer this by switching on and simultaneously clicking the shutter to catch the last vestige of power from the battery to take the photo. Otherwise many others of far better quality would have been taken. Just got the one.

Re: All things Renault Wind
You have given the game away there Neil.
I recognised the one in question but couldn't assign it to any particular car. Crap memory thought it was older.
