Radio says “SILENCE”

Post by emj0hn »

Hi,
I’ve recently been handed down a Citroen C3 Picasso (2014) and it has for the most part been an alright car… until yesterday. I heard a loud pop and no sound has been coming out the car since. The word “SILENCE” appears when the radio is turned on and when a CD has been inserted, it gets stuck on the reading display. Please help as it’s very depressing to drive this car with NO MUSIC :|

We probably need to know which audio system is fitted. If you post the VIN we should be able to look it up.

Ok, so you have a basic RD4 system.

I suspect what you have is a speaker symbol with a line through it and the word 'silence'. If that's the case it probably means you have pressed both the volume uip and down buttons together and put it into silent mode.

Pressing the volume up button repeatedly on the stalk control should get it back to normal.

Use the following procedure to disconnect the battery, but where the timings are indicated, leave it for a good 10-15 minutes before reconnecting and following the reconnection part. I'm hoping that this may reset it back.

If that does not work you can probably pick up a replacement audio stalk from a scrapyard for a couple of quid (I had to do this for my first C5).
