NG4 Retrofit

Mrs H has decided that she’s not keen on the small orange display on the dash of our new C5 and has said she much preferred the sat nav and screen on our old one.

Has anybody retrofitted an NG4 and screen?

I’m guessing I’ll need the NG4 unit, screen, dashboard trim and the cables between both units. Probably a GPS receiver too.

Would be interested if someone has already done it and has any pointers.

Most models fitted with the NG4 had the Services Module fitted too David. That part directly takes the microphone input from the ceiling, the connections from the SIM card and handles the emergency calling and services calling and geolocation in an emergency, also providing emergency call feedback through one of the front speakers and the whole lot is CAN connected to the BSI back to the NG4.

So I've not yet heard or seen of a vehicle with this system without the services module to date.

My immediate concern would be the actual fascia wiring harness as I know these are different to the looms without the NG4.

The screen would need to be the Hi Res DG4 version as there are 2 versions of screen - Lo Res. and High Res. Also there are 2 versions of Fascia trim for the large colour multi-function screens - You would need the larger fascia trim or the screen I think gets covered up in parts of the display.

Edit: Just checked and as suspected the NG4 has a specific fascia harness different to the other units.
