I agree Gibbo, it may be more useful if they published the death tolls alongside the equivalent number for the same time period last year so that it would give a clearer indication of the effect the Covid-19 is having!

The problem with the testing is that the one to see if you CURRENTLY have COVID 19 (or not) is it's only really valid WHEN you have the test. I could test negative today, and then get infected on Friday without knowing it, and start being contagious a few days later. The better test (once one is found with a high accuracy level (say, 95%)) is the antibodies test to se if you have HAD COVID 19. This does assume that, once a person has got over COVID 19, they now have a good level of immunity to it.

In terms of the developed immunity, I did see that the experiment of taking plasma from patients who had recovered and giving it to patients who were suffering seemed to show some promising results in the Chinese trial. Which means that it may be possible to help active illness as well as prevent future infection. :|

I know many people, myself included, who are convinced they’ve had Covid-19 this year and didn’t realise it at the time. An antibody test would be great.

Yes, agreed. Allegedly so easy too. A small finger prick for a blood drop and results in seconds... All should have it... It would take out a lot of uncertainty...

Is there any cerditable evidence yet that once having had it offers a measure of future immunity?

It appears that blood plasma from people who have recovered from COVID 19 is helping those who currently have it. That would suggest they you can get a level of immunity to COVID 19, in a similar way you can get an immunity to a strain of influenza (once you have recovered from it).

James, that's potentially very promising :)

The reason I said "with a high degree of accuracy" is because there apparently are antibody 'tests' coming through with a high (comparatively speaking) rate of false positives. This could mean that, should I use such a test and show positive for antibodies, I may NOT have had COVID 19 but believe I had, and was now relatively safe both from contracting or spreading COVID 19.

Chatting to a big Scotsman that we encounter most weeks in Weatherspoons a week before this all went into lockdown, he said "Those ba******* Chinese have been messing with biological warfare experiments and it's got out into the population."

Well he should know he read it in his pint glass. :-D

NTD TV is founded by a group of Chinese-American Falun Gong practitioners which supports social conservatism, segregated paradises and anti-communism.

Your doing yourself no favours posting very biased links, on a channel owned by a Chinese anti-China cult.
